HELPING HANDS IN 2012
Throughout the fall and winter months Redeemer has donated to Together We Cope fifteen bags of food, one box of clothing, and $350 in monetary donations. As we begin our Helping Hands in 2012 Food Drive let us continue to be generous in helping this wonderful organization continue to support those who are experiencing a crisis in their lives.
Redeemer will be collecting non-perishable food items on the 1st Sunday of every month on each of these Mission Sundays. The focus will be on a particular food item.
February - Canned Juices
March - Rice (brown & white)
April - Pasta, Mac & Cheese
May - Cereal (hot & cold)
June - Canned Meats & Tuna
July - Canned Fruits and Vegetables
August - Spaghetti Sauce
September - Canned Soup, Canned Stews & Chili
October - Household Paper Products
November - Baby Products
December - Cereal (hot & cold)
Any and all items are welcome anytime with the focus being the item of the month. Let’s fill up our Food Baskets in the narthex!
This one sounds a little quirky! During the 1930's in Kansas, the drought lasted for so long that the crops burned up. There's no job to be found and most people head to California or Florida to try their luck. For the farmers who stay put and their families, times are difficult, but the women from the Persian Pickle Club keep their heads up. If you want to find out what their plans and devices are, read THE PERSIAN PICKLE CLUB by Sandra Dallas. Then come to Jan Strojny's house on Thursday, February 16th at 7 p.m. for what should be a lively discussion.

DON'T FORGET

Let your commuter parking costs go back to the community.
Redeemer gives money back to the community by helping the homeless, Lutheran Education every Sunday, Relay for Life, and participation in other community activities.
Our parking lot is next to the Oak Forest Metra station. You can park all day for a small $2.00 donation. Don't worry about staying late, our parking lot is well lighted.
Don't fight the parking lot congestion getting on to Cicero... take a relaxing, scenic drive down 158th Street and avoid the traffic.
PADS DONATIONS NEEDED

Every time you drop clothing donations at the Spree Store (151st & LaGrange Rd. in Orland Park) and tell the attendant that the donations are on behalf of PADS we receive a per pound agreed to dollar amount that helps us provide supportive services to our guests. Hours for drop-off are Tuesday thru Saturday 10am to 9pm and Sunday 10am to 6pm.
The PADS program continues to serve dinner at church on Saturday evenings at 6p.m. Starting in October they will begin the overnight PADS ministry. We are always looking for people to volunteer to help with the many tasks necessary to continue this wonderful ministry. It is truly Gods hand using his people in a most caring way. Please consider volunteering your time.
Please accept our sincere thank you for thinking of Together We Cope. We would like to thank the Redeemer Family for their continued support in helping us provide the much needed assistance within the communities we serve. It is through the help from you and others that we are able to do this. Thank you again for your kindness and generosity.
